Carrer Oriented from Childhood & Early Life
He started to take boxing training when he was 12. He was under the training of Chuck Bodak and he was very dedicated to his training and passionate about his boxing.
When he was 18, he had won 2 Golden Gloves titles, Amateur Athletic Union National Title and Light Heavyweight Gold medal in Summer Olympics 1960.
Ali had possessed unique boxing style that made him exceptional among other boxers. He was very quick with his response that he never needed to protect his face or duck with hands and was ever ready to punch back his competitors.
Career & Goals of Muhammad Ali
Ali’s professional career started in 1960. He won 29 matches till 1967. In 1964, 25th of February, he won World Heavyweight championship as the youngest boxer and made a world record. During this period he changed his name Cassius Marcellus Clay to Muhammad Ali.
His Heavyweight boxing title, as well as his boxing license, was snatched as he rejected serving US army for Vietnam War. Even he was charged with 5 years imprisonment. Though he had appealed against it to US Supreme court and he was able to come out of the action before 3 and ½ years.
Ali came back in the boxing ring but he lacked his energy. He won 3 rounds against JerryQuarry, but he was unable to win the Heavyweight title against Joe Frazier. In 1974, he came back with a bang and defeated Joe Frazier with tough competition.
He regained his Heavyweight title in 1974 defeating George Foreman. Then he got his defeat by a newcomer Leon Spinks. His defect shocked his audiences. He admitted his fault and again he won the Heavyweight title in a rematch. He was the first boxing sensation to win three times Heavyweight title.
He announced his retirement after this match.
After his retirement, he did fight few matches for money. Though, his ailing health did not permit him to fight more. He was undergoing Parkinson syndrome in the year 1984.
Achievement & Awards of Ali
The man of boxing was also renowned for his taunting and ridiculing behavior towards his opponents. Though, when he was in the ring, his every negative trait blew away by his super performance.
He was endowed by several titles, The Greatest Fighter of the Year, Sportsman of the Year, Sportsman of the Century (1999) and Sports Personality of the Century.
President George W. Bush awarded him with Presidential Citizens Medal and Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005.
He got the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
The never dying boxing spirit passed away on 3rd June 2016.
