8 Reasons for Being Proud of Yourself
Are you self-satisfied?
Being proud of yourself is not boasting about your achievements; it’s about improving self-esteem and self-worth in order to build good relations with other people. It’s a fact that self-confident people can establish contacts easier and they are more ambitious. If you move in the right direction, achieving your goals and living the life you want to, you must grow the self-worth.
However, it takes a significant amount of energy to start being proud of yourself, especially if you don’t know the reasons for it. However, some facts can prove that you must be proud of yourself. Moreover, it helps to move forward with both short-term and long-term goals and boost self-esteem.
Here are reasons for it:
1. Your Fear is Defeated
Although our phobias help to survive as they keep us away from the danger, more often than not, our fears are reflections of the memory as we store negative memories even if nothing bad happened, and the reason for it is the production of hormones in the amygdala.
No matter how strong as a person you are, you might have fears that prevent you from living a life for full. In fact, all people face some kinds of fears, but just a few of them know how to overcome these worries and start being a happier person.
Actually, having fears is a stressful factor that negatively affects your well-being.
Once your fear is defeated, it’s a personal win, so you can be proud of yourself. After all, you took the first step toward working up your self-esteem.
2. You Step Out of Your Comfort Zone
People are creatures who value comfort in everything, and living in your comfort zone means doing things that are fine for you and which don’t need additional efforts or time. On the other hand, breaking out of your comfort zone is a way to expand your knowledge and understand more about yourself. When you do something that you normally won’t do, you get used to it which means being ready for further development. You never know until you try, and taking a step out helps to understand new edges of your personality.
Although it’s hard to leave your comfort zone, once you take the first step toward it, it’s a personal achievement.
3. You Achieve Your Goals
When New Year comes, many people set goals. They even write them down, believing that this visualization will help them achieve what they have planned. However, nothing helps but putting efforts into it, so the process repeats every year, no matter whether you have achieved your goals or not.
But, if you have reached a goal, even if it was a short-term one, it’s a good reason for being proud of yourself. The more goals you achieve, the closer you’re to your dream.
4. You Help People Who Didn’t Ask for a Favor
If you do a favor for people, that’s great. If you help the needy even if the person hasn’t asked for it, that’s better. We all know that asking for help is a hard thing to do, and sometimes even dearest and nearest people prefer not to bother with requests.
While it’s hard to ask for a help, it requires nothing but the desire to offer it and make someone’s life better. And if you’re among these people who help others, you’re on the way to success.
5. You Make a Recovery from a Fall
No matter how hard you try, you need to be ready for a failure as all people fall from time to time. And the reason for it may be absolutely different, but the main idea is to be brave enough to rise after the fall. If you can make a recovery from a fall, it proves that nothing is difficult for you, and you’re in charge of your happiness.
Once Winston Churchill said:
“Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.”
6. You Learn from Other People
Unfortunately, most people understand that they have made a mistake after personal failure. However, some people know how to learn from other people in order to avoid making their mistakes. If you can accept other people’s failures, get their experience, it can help you a lot.
First of all, it’s a proof of being a wise person, and it’s a reason for being proud of yourself without a doubt.
7. You Want to Improve Yourself
Every day is full of opportunities, and every person can become better if he or she puts efforts into it. Successful people know that the learning process is eternal, and you can develop your potential if you keep on improving your skills. All in all, it means expanding the boundaries of your opportunities.
It’s not just about your career growth but personal talents and developments as well. Take up a new hobby and give it a try, boost creativity, and learn how to see things from different angles. It’s your life, and the more you know, the better for you.
8. You Dream Big
Dreams form you as a personality. Most of your dreams are goals, and you must be working on accomplishing them. If you believe in yourself, you set ambitious goals, and it’s important to take challenging tasks in order to keep on growing as a person.
Once Abdul Kalam said, “You have to dream before your dreams can come true”.
It’s absolutely true that you become better when you dream big as you try to achieve these desires.
Being proud of yourself is a proof that you enjoy your life. Obviously, the process of becoming better is a long haul, but once you start being proud of yourself, you boost self-confidence which gives you extra energy for self-development.
