Childhood of the Friendly President
Barack Obama was born on 4th August, 1961 in Honolulu in Hawaii into a family with international roots and diverse culture. His mother was from Kansas whereas his father was a Kenyan citizen pursuing his studies in Honolulu.
During the mid-60s, when his mother remarried, she took him to Indonesia. From ages 6 to 10, Barack attended various Indonesian language schools along with homeschooling for English language. In the year 1971, he moved back to Honolulu and joined a college preparatory school where he studied from fifth grade till his graduation.
Later, he moved to Los Angeles and joined Occidental College before transferring to the prestigious Columbia University. In 1982, he graduated from here with a degree in Political Science.
Early Life of as a Common Man
After completing his studies, he worked as a community organizer in the state of Chicago. He collaborated with a number of organizations of the Church to help people with economical disadvantages to join college or to find a job. In 1988, he joined Harvard Law School to study Law. It was here that he became politically inclined. He worked here as the first African American president of the popular Harvard Law Review.

After securing a degree in Law, Barack Obama started teaching at the University of Chicago, which is known for its impressive Law and Economic programs.
He entered the political scene in the real sense when he was elected to the Illinois Senate in 1996. Later in 2004, he contested for the United States Senatorial Election and beat his opponents with a huge margin, thus making a place for himself in the US Senate. He served as a US Senator from 2005 to 20068.
However, what he aimed at was the highest position in the country – The President of USA. Though he faced tough competition from the people in his own party as well as the Republic party, he fought all odds and finally was nominated for the election. He came up with a novel campaign for the purpose and won the heart of the people of America which in turn got him to ultimate victory and made him the 44th President of USA in 2009. He went on to win the second term as President in 2012.
As the President, he has come up with new policies that have benefitted the country as well as the world as a whole. He has extended his support to countries facing security issues and the highlight of his career was the US army’s attack on the dreaded criminal Osama Bin Laden.
