Due to his assertive and energetic nature, his parents got him enrolled into the New York Military Academy when he was just 13 years of age and he stayed here till he graduated from high school. Later he went to Fordham University and Wharton School of Finance and Commerce and got a degree in Economics.
Rise of the Real Estate Mogul
Since, Donald Trump’s father had a real estate business named Elizabeth Trump & Son, his choice of career was set from an early age. However, he was much more ambitious than his father and his efforts brought profit to the company in spite of the competition.
In 1971, he took over the company and renamed it as Trump Organization. He moved to Manhattan with an aim to change the face of the city. He developed relationships with some of the most influential people and soon started planning huge projects that would bring him larger profits.
He further expanded his empire by entering into profitable partnerships and taking over companies that were headed towards bankruptcy. This included tie-ups with some of the most popular hotels in the world and taking up contract based works for renovating and restoring important sites.
Struggles in Business Life
His business took a serious hit when the real estate business started diminishing in 1990. In spite of the net worth of $1.5 billion, it was estimated that he was in a debt of $500 million. During this phase, he had to take up loans to clear his debts and keep his business at bay. However, his hard work and will power paid and he was soon able to bounce back to achieve a net worth of $2 billion.
Though Donald Trump contemplated with the idea of running for the presidential elections in 2000, the lukewarm support made him change his mind. However, this was the time when his business was flourishing again and this got him a chance to feature on the TV show, The Apprentice, which got him immediate recognition.
During the 2012, he announced that he intended to run for the presidential elections. However, since he was associated with the people who were endorsing the idea that Barrack Obama should not contest the elections as he was not born in USA, his reputation was maligned yet again.
In 2015, he finally announced that he would be contesting the 2016 Presidential election as a Republic Party nominee. He has promised the citizens that if he wins the elections, he and his countrymen will together make their country great.
The whole world is waiting with bated breath to see if Donald Trump would finally be able to realize his dream of becoming a President.
